Inayah J. Smith-Marsette is an Honors graduate of Delaware State University and earned her J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
While in law school, Ms. Smith-Marsette served as the Chief Justice of the Moot Court Board, Resource Editor of the Law Review Board, President of the Black Law Students Association, Grade Appeals Board Magistrate, Vice President of the Hispanic Organization of Legal Advocates, Vice President of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society, Senator of the Student Bar Association, Member of the Diversity Coalition, Teacher’s Assistant, and Dean’s Fellow. Recognizing Ms. Smith-Marsette’s leadership skills, she earned the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Leadership Achievement Award.
After graduating law school, Ms. Smith-Marsette served as a Law Clerk to the former Chief Judge, Toddrick S. Barnette, of the Fourth Judicial District of the State of Minnesota.
Prior to joining Charlson Bredehoft Cohen Brown & Nadelhaft, Ms. Smith-Marsette practiced in Minnesota where she represented insurance companies and employers in claims arising under the Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Act, as well as handled complex civil litigation issues, including asbestos litigation, general tort liability, and construction defects.
